CIOmove@BASF

On September 13, 2019, the CIOmove will stop at BASF in Ludwigshafen. There will be a guided tour through the company, which is among the largest chemical companies in the world and the world’s largest chemical group in terms of sales.

Steamcracker II, the largest single plant at BASF’s Ludwigshafen site, covers an area of around 64,000 square meters – equivalent to 13 football pitches. The cracker is also the “heart” of the Verbund production. This giant has been in operation since 1981 and breaks down crude gasoline by adding steam at around 850 degrees Celsius. The main products are ethylene and propylene, both indispensable raw materials for the manufacture of many products in Ludwigshafen. (Picture: BASF)

Around 1.30 pm there will be a conference at BASF. It invites: Stefan Beck, CIO and Senior Vice President Enterprise Architecture & Cyber Security of BASF.

His colleagues and he will present their digital roadmap to the participants of the CIOmove@BASF, talk about how Augmented Reality with Microsoft HoloLens as well as HPC (High Performance Computing) will enter the company.

After a short break Richard Trethewey, Vice President Digitalization of Research & Development, will talk about Qknows and Wiebe van der Horst (not to be confused with Horst Ellermann!) Executive Project Manager about NGBA at BASF, the Next Generation Business Architecture.
