Carsten Bernhard, CTO of eDreams ODIGEO, invited us visit the headquarters of Europe´s biggest traveling platform in Barcelona on Sunday, Nov 3.
On the way to Data Mesh
For the past three years, eDreams ODIGEO (eDO) has been working on an ambitious transformation program with the Data Mesh approach to data analysis at its core. eDO is one of the world’s leading online travel companies with 20 million customers in 44 countries.
eDO started as a start-up with a traditional data warehouse, but over the years this proved to be more of a brake than a booster. The company decided to move to a data mesh architecture, where data is distributed and coordinated with the data teams in each area.
Carlos Saona, Chief Architect, will talk about ODIGEO’s migration from a data warehouse to a data mesh architecture to power AI applications at scale. He will cover the different evolutions of data management in the company and the architectures that supported them, and share key learnings on the journey to an AI-first infrastructure.
We will discuss his approach at 6pm at ODIGEO headquarters, Bailen 67, 08009 Barcelona. And afterwards we will have dinner together at 8pm.
If possible, get a flight on Sunday morning already. Our colleagues from the UK are planning a bicycle tour around Barcelona in the afternoon and we are welcome to join. We care for the bikes. And do not worry: It won´t become too sporty. We only race for red wine.
