Bosch site in Stuttgart-Feuerbach

Out of the Ivory Tower: How Bosch Uses Enterprise Architecture to Strategically Align IT with Business Value

On Thursday, December 4, Bosch CIO Manuel Dietz invites us to the Bosch site in Stuttgart-Feuerbach for an interactive session.

At Bosch, the enterprise architects led by Manuel Dietz, VP IT & Digitalisation, and enterprise architect Jens Vialkowitsch have found their way out of the ivory tower and into the business world. EA is no longer perceived as a theoretical discipline far removed from business, but rather as an operational contribution to business success. Artificial intelligence plays a dual role here: on the one hand, it is a tool for operationalising architecture work and supporting data-based decision-making processes; on the other hand, it drives cultural change that encourages enterprise architects to think even more from a business perspective. Bosch no longer sees enterprise architecture as a control mechanism, but as an active shaper of value creation and innovation within the group, especially when it comes to integrating AI into the IT landscape and thus into the value chains.

Agenda:

From 2.30 p.m. Registration and refreshments at Bosch, Borsigstraße 4, 70469 Stuttgart, H0.04b (IT Campus Feuerbach » Fe 701 » ground floor) (https://maps.app.goo.gl/78abBoUDrLgHGDNG6

3:00 p.m. Welcome by Horst Ellermann, Volker Martens and Manuel Dietz

3:15 p.m. Manuel Dietz and Jens Vialkowitsch, “Enterprise Architecture at Bosch”: How do enterprise architects manage to come out of their “ivory tower” and strategically align their work with business value?

3:45 p.m. Use cases from the Bosch universe, where AI is already being used successfully in EA.

4:15 p.m. Coffee break

4:30 p.m. Jens Vialkowitsch: How does AI specifically contribute to the operationalisation of architecture work in order to better link knowledge, decisions and processes within the company? AI can make enterprise architecture more accessible, measurable and relevant. But the question also arises as to how AI can help bridge the gap between strategic planning and implementation in business.

4:45 p.m. Manuel Dietz: How will AI fundamentally change the entire IT landscape and thus enterprise architecture if software solutions become increasingly automated and customised in the future?

5:15 p.m. Discussion: How can IT architecture be made relevant to business? Where does friction arise between centralised and decentralised IT? How can companies avoid architecture teams being perceived as “brake pads”?

6 p.m.: Closing remarks and dinner together at Wirtshaus am Schlossplatz, Carls Brauhaus, Stauffenbergstr. 1, 70173 Stuttgart.

Registration: Please register by sending an email to Claudia Michel.

We are looking forward to seeing you in Stuttgart!
