The former head of IT at the international hotel chain Jumeirah Group and CIOmover will take on the role of Chief Technology Officer at Orascom Hotels Management in January.
Sanjay Sharma, former Head of Information Technology at the international hotel chain Jumeirah Group, will take over the role of CTO at Orascom Hotels Management from January 2024. The hotel management subsidiary of Orascom Development is one of the largest hotel owners and operators in the MENA region with more than 8,000 guest rooms in Egypt, Oman and the United Arab Emirates, as well as additional hotels in Montenegro and Switzerland. Sanjay has a broad industry experience, including 27 years in various leadership roles in technology and business transformation.
During his time at Jumeirah Group as Head of IT, Sanjay led several digital transformation initiatives. These included the launch of new digital channels and the implementation of innovative technologies such as facial recognition for online check-in. Under his leadership, Jumeirah Group experienced a significant increase in online business volume.
Sanjay previously spent more than two decades at Emirates Group in various senior roles, including the role of Transformation Lead and Manager IT Innovation. In these positions, he led the Emirates Group’s transformation office, drove the development of new business models and built an innovation ecosystem by establishing labs in Oxford (UK), Carnegie Mellon University (San Francisco) and at Emirates’ headquarters in Dubai.
Sanjay’s achievements in the technology industry include being recognized with the Business Transformation 150 (BT150) Award by Constellation Research and being named among the top 10 CIOs in the Middle East in the IDC Excellence Award 2022.
In his new role at Orascom Hotels Management, Sanjay will be responsible for leading digital transformation and technological change within the group. His extensive experience and background in strategic transformation projects are seen as critical to advancing Orascom’s technology and digitalization strategy.
