Hitachi Energy is advancing the world’s energy system to be more sustainable, flexible and secure. As the pioneering technology leader, we collaborate with customers and partners to enable a sustainable energy future – for today’s generations and those to come.

Our business provides pathways to accelerate the energy transition and deliver customer success. We are a global leader in power technologies and energy systems. Customers across the utilitiestransportation, IT such as data centersindustry and Smart Life sectors trust our world-class teams of experts to deliver pioneering and digital solutions across the power value chain. Our solutions help meet the growing demand for electricity – affordably, reliably, sustainably and in a modern way.

Our history dates back to the late 1800’s when electrical engineering companies, ASEA and BBC (Brown Boveri & Cie), were formed during Europe’s industrial revolution. After introducing electrical power transmission, rail and industrial technologies, these two pioneering brands merged in 1988 to create ABB. In the following three decades the company continued to develop industry-leading power and automation technologies through a combination of R&D and tactical acquisitions.

In 2020, Hitachi and ABB's Power Grids' business came together in a joint venture to create a new global leader in pioneering and digital technologies. As individual companies, both had been innovating and improving technology for over a century.

With a heritage spanning more than 130 years, Hitachi Energy operates in more than 100 countries and employs around 40’000 people.
